Attachment-Based Couples Therapy
Relationships bring out the best and worst in us. Couples therapy can help improve communication by addressing underlying feelings, resentments and unspoken needs. I will listen with curiosity to the stories you tell each other and yourselves about the relationship; by working through these stories, you will be more able to see each other as you truly are.
Our families-of-origin continue to impact our adult relationships. Attachment-based couples therapy invites you to understand your own patterns and deepen empathy for yourself and your partner.
I have training in emotionally focused therapy and psychoanalytic therapy for couples. Arguments occur when you or your partner are unable to communicate unmet needs, feelings or expectations. Often, you yourself are not aware of your feelings. Couples therapy is a space to explore and process those feelings while also learning new ways to communicate.
I specialize in LGBTQIA+ couples, polyamory, blended families, helping families manage serious mental health diagnoses, family planning and adjusting to new parenthood.
